Our quarter series on ‘The Power of God at work in us‘ is getting more interesting. This week we look at something many struggle with – believers and unbelievers. And that is God’s righteousness.

This Sunday’s topic is: God’s Righteousness Revealed. Key Learnings are:

1. Jews are chosen by God and custodians of the law, however, there’s a downside – we can’t be justified by the law because no one can keep the law.
2. No one can become righteous by their own efforts. God is the One who makes a person righteous. 
3. It is by the free grace of God through faith in the righteousness of Christ, that we (Jews and Gentiles) become righteous in God’s sight.

God wants us to accept His righteousness and not try working out our own.

This Sunday, we will be looking at the sticky issue of obedience as we continue in our quarter theme ‘The Power of God at work in us.’ Our topic is ‘Obedience- the essence of the Law.

1. Reading, hearing, studying, and teaching the word of God without obeying it personally will not get us anywhere with God. Romans 2:13.
2. Nominal Christianity saps the power of the Church to influence society. Romans 2:17-29.
3. For those seeking salvation by obeying the Law, the whole Law must be obeyed, and not just heard. But this is impossible.

I am sending the attachment in the hope that this email finds you well and that you have been finding our quarter series on Lessons from the life of David’ useful.

Sometimes, in our effort to do God’s work, we can be led by simple zeal or carried along by the emotions of the moment, etc. David wanted to honor God by bringing the Ark of God to a more ‘befitting’ place. But due to some minor oversight, someone lost his life! 

Join us, this Sunday, as  explore this issue further under the topic is ‘God’s work, God’s way’

Key Learning Points:
1. King David had pure motive, as did Uzzah. But as far as God is concerned, good intentions will not absolve us from responsibility when it comes to obeying His clear written command. If we neglect His written instructions and command, we will soon find ourselves in David’s error in the matter of moving the Ark.
2. Seeking counsel is good. But such counsel should always align with God’s clear command as contained in His holy inerrant written word.
3. In a rapidly changing world, we can easily be lured into thinking that doing God’s work has to keep up with the current trend. But we must never allow the worship of God to be dictated by societal trends.
