Good afternoon brothers and sisters,

Please find attached the Bible Study Outline for Sunday, March 2, as we continue our Quarter Series on the Impact of Unsung Heroes in the Bible.  This week’s topic is “Barnabas: A selfless Disciple.  The main texts are Acts 4:32-37, 9:26-30, 11:19-30 and 13:1-5.  The key learning points are as follows:

1.      The early church was marked by a culture of unity, generosity, holy fear and joy recognizing God’s ownership of everything including their own lives.  However, the holiness of God was not to be abused.  Acts 4:32, Acts 5:4-5.
2.      Sometimes, it takes courage to reach out “the right hand of fellowship,” but doing so unlocks the flow of the power of God to accomplish His work Acts 9:26-27
3.      God is sovereign, His purpose will not be frustrated by persecution Acts 4:21, Acts 19:2, Acts 12:24

Our quarter series on Servant Leadership continues this Sunday with a look at ‘Selfless Leadership. And it is quite timely, coming during this period of transition, both at the National level and in our VFC family. The study is also applicable in every other area of our leadership interactions – family, neighborhood, etc.

Key Learnings include:
1. Self-interest impedes vision, which is a key attribute for servant leadership.
2. Selfless leadership depends on God for direction and judgement, not on emotions or on circumstances.
3. Selfless leadership is costly, enduring and transforming.

As we continue our study on Love- A more excellent way of love, we come, this week, to the topic: Love is Selfless. See attached outline for your perusal.

Key learnings

1.     Generosity, which is the very opposite of selfishness, is a characteristic of true love, which seeks to give and not take for oneself.

2.     Courtesy is also an expression of selflessness. Courteous people do not demand to be first in all things.

3.     Selfless love is the result of yielding to God, repeatedly confronting our selfishness and daily practicing biblical love in our lives.
