Good evening everyone,

Please find attached the second Bible Study in this Quarter’s Theme of “The Foundations of the Christian Faith”.  The sermon topic is “God’s Purpose in Creation, the main texts being Genesis 1:26-31 and Acts 17:26-28.

Key Learning Points:

1.     God created man in His own image (“copy”) and likeness (“pattern”) to be His image bearer and vice-regent on the earth (Gen 1:26 – 28)

2.     God gave man a dominion mandate to fill the earth and to rule over creation as His representative for the benefit of all mankind and the glory of God (Gen 1:28, Ps 8:4-8, Ps115:6; Isa 43:7) 

3.     God is Sovereign over all men whether they know it or not.  All are created from one blood and God determines the circumstances in the nations in which they live so that they may seek Him and, through knowing Him, fulfill their purpose as God’s image bearer, representative, and vice-regent on earth to his praise and glory (Acts 17:26-28, Dan 2:36-45)

We continue our series on the lessons from the Life of Jesus. Our focus this Sunday will be His purpose. 

Key Learning Points:

1.     Jesus started His public ministry having full clarity about His purpose and mission. And that purpose was firmly anchored in Scripture and on doing the will of God.

2.    Jesus’ primary reason for coming into the world is to save man from sin and reconcile us to the Father. We must be careful not to allow the side benefit to distract us from the main purpose of His coming

3.     As believers, we too must be clear on our life’s purpose and mission and work daily to fulfill it just like Jesus did.
