Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Please find attached Bible Study Outline for 4 August 2024. The topic is “God resits the proud” and the main text is Daniel 4:1-37. This is the next topic in our Quarter Series on Living out our faith – a study of Danie
The key learning points are:
Key Learning Points
1. The sin of pride is odious to God. It was the first sin (Isaiah14:13). The mightiest king on earth will either learn, or be taught that only God’s kingdom is enduring, and He sets over kingdoms whom He chooses. Daniel 4:1, 17.
2. The consequences of unchecked pride can be devastating – the fall from pride brings not only loss but utter humiliation. Daniel 4:32-33; Proverbs 11:2.
3. Boastful pride is of the world (1 John 2:16). God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble. If we do not humble ourselves, God will deal with us but His dealings have a redemptive purpose. Daniel 4:34-37.

Our study on Love, A most excellent way continues this Sunday. Having looked at what love is, we turn our attention to what love is not, starting with ‘Love is not boastful and proud.
Key Learning Points:
1. Boasting and pride are self-focused, which is the direct opposite of what Christian love is. As such, boasting and pride cannot coexist with godly love.
2. As Christians, we should not do things for vainglory, but out of genuine and selfless love. This is a key distinguishing element between Believers and Unbelievers.
3. Another thing which makes boasting and arrogance so grievous is that it is presumptuous and leaves God out of one’s plans. And it is the reason we so easily trample on others in pursuit of our plans and targets. This, God says, is sin. Submitting to the will of God in our planning can save us from the sin boasting and pride.

May God bless His word to our hearts in Christ’s Name. Amen.
