Brethren,

Hope your week has gone well.

Do you ever wonder why there is so much confusion in most societies? The answer is right here in our study this Sunday on Consequences of Failed Leadership. In this Sunday’s study, God reminds us that we ignore His clear written commands at our own risk.

Key Learning Points:
1. A life invested in sin (disobedience to God’s word) is the principal cause of leadership failure. And the consequences of an investment in sin have effect on both present and future generations of a leader’s family and people.
2. Leadership failure leads to the insidious growth and spread of sin in a people, leading to a disruption to the social and moral life of a nation.
3. God’s word clearly conveys the fact that He is a jealous God (Exodus 20:5 GW) and becomes angry in the face of willful disobedience, punishing leaders who disregard His word, and eventually the nation which is so misled by such a wayward leader.

See attached outline for your further reference.

Righteousness, indeed, does exult a nation.

Brethren,

I trust that you are well.

Our quarter series on Servant Leadership continues this Sunday with a look at ‘Selfless Leadership. And it is quite timely, coming during this period of transition, both at the National level and in our VFC family. The study is also applicable in every other area of our leadership interactions – family, neighborhood, etc.

Key Learnings include:
1. Self-interest impedes vision, which is a key attribute for servant leadership.
2. Selfless leadership depends on God for direction and judgement, not on emotions or on circumstances.
3. Selfless leadership is costly, enduring and transforming.

See attached outline for your further reference. And please forgive me for the lateness of this outline.

Brethren,

I trust this meets you well.

As we prayerfully wait for the big day tomorrow, let us allow this study to remind us of what we all are yearning for – purposeful leadership.

Key learning points include:

  1. Purposeful leadership starts with an unflinching commitment to following God and doing what pleases Him. From beginning to the end, Josiah focused his leadership towards doing what is right in the sight of God, not man. Josiah was 100% committed to following the ways of God like his ancestor, David, not turning from it to the left or to the right. Purposeful leadership restored a whole nation back to God.
  2. Josiah shows the influence and impact purposeful leadership can have, even from someone young. Josiah’s single-minded leadership to please God went beyond the borders of Judah to impact people in Israel, outside his realm in Judah.
  3. God has given each of us our own responsibilities. King Josiah shows us that those responsibilities are primarily about pleasing God. So, in our engagement in the different spheres in life, we need to stay faithful to God’s purpose and avoid the attractiveness of other pursuits. The world’s problems are spiritual, not political. The Church’s primary task is to proclaim the gospel and bring people under Christ’s lordship. Let’s not get sidetracked from our main mission!

See attached outline for your further reference.

May God, through these elections, give us purposeful leaders.

Brethren,

Trust you are well.

You may recall that the main objective of our quarter theme is that we would learn about God’s perspective on leadership and how to become godly leaders, so that we may become one.

This Sunday, we see an example of someone who modeled servant leadership. Nehemiah shows us that it is humanly possible to be a servant leader. See attached outline for your further reference.

Key Learning Points include:

  1. Nehemiah demonstrated faith in God – his leadership being fueled by prayer and compassion for the people and concern for the glory of God. He was able to inspire people to pursue God’s will, which is the secret of true godly leadership.
  2. Often, what people need to change their situation is the vision to see a better future and the motivation to take steps towards that envisioned better future. Nehemiah brought all that to the people.
  3. Nehemiah exemplifies a leadership that serves the people, as he used his position to better the lot of his people and advance the cause of God. In addition, he was willing to leave his cozy life in the service of the king to travel to the ruined city of his ancestors to effect repairs.

May God’s grace abound to us to put to action our faith in Him for the good of those around us and for His glory.

Brethren,

Trust you are well and that your week is going well.

As we continue in our quarter theme on servant leadership, you may begin to wonder why there is such a dearth of servant leaders, even in the Church. If you have ever entertained such a question, then you don’t want to miss this Sunday’s study on The Cost of Servant Leadership

Key Learning Points are:

  1. Doing the right thing in an ungodly world can be risky. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were commanded to bow down before an idol (Dan 3:1-30). Daniel was ordered to pray only to a human king (Dan 6:1-24). Yet these men, like this brave queen, all chose to trust God and take risks.
  2. Servant leaders while serving, could be sorely oppressed, and persecuted, sometimes even unto death – the ultimate cost. The servant leader’s mindset should therefore be, “For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain”- Phil1:21
  3. To truly be servant leaders, we must come to the place where we are willing and ready to pay the ultimate price for our faith in God. And that means allowing God to decide whether we would live to see another day or not.

May we, like Queen Esther, be all in for the sake of our Master, Jesus Christ.

Brethren,

I trust this email finds you well.

This Sunday, we continue with our quarter series on Servant Leadership. Our topic is Servant Leadership and Missions. The point to be made being that, at the end of the day, our servant leadership must impact our core mandate – Missions.

Key Learning Points:

  1. One of the key attributes of Servant leadership is commitment. It is commitment that gives one the focus and impetus to carry on with the tasks that must be done. Although the disciples were fleeing from persecution, they were not distracted from missions because they could not help but preach the gospel of the kingdom wherever they took refuge.
  2. Teaching is a vital aspect of the Great Commission. So, as servant leaders in mission, we also must work hard to study to show ourselves approved in the correct handling of the word of God and in spending time to teach new believers. New believers must not be left to sort out their lives.
  3. Purpose of heart is a core value in servant leadership, missions, and the kingdom of God. Thus, a servant leader is ready to surrender his/her rights and privileges for the sake of the mission.

See attached outline for your further necessary action.

Servant Leadership Starts With Me https://victoriafellowshipchurch.org/servant-leadership-starts-with-me/ https://victoriafellowshipchurch.org/servant-leadership-starts-with-me/#respond Sun, 08 Jan 2023 05:00:00 +0000 https://www.victoriafellowshipchurch.org/?p=1422 Read more…]]> Theme: Servant Leadership

Brethren,

I trust this email finds you well.

Last week, we saw Jesus Christ as our supreme example of a servant leader. And in that study, Christ reminded us that His example is not just for us to study and be amazed at, but something for us to emulate. So, this Sunday, we look at how we can walk in Jesus’ shoes of servant leadership. Our topic, Servant Leadership Starts With Me is to remind us that we are not to exempt ourselves while expecting others to practice servant leadership.

Key learning Points:
1. Servant leadership starts with a life changing encounter with God, through Jesus Christ.
2. You don’t need much to be a servant leader. You just need to be available to God.
3. As a servant leader, I cannot pick and choose when to lead or serve others. I just must follow Jesus’ leading and instructions. To be a servant leader, I must be ready to serve others, no matter the situation or circumstance.
