Hello everyone,

The Bible Study Outline for Sunday is attached hereto.  The topic is Rahab: Salvation by Faith.  This is the next in our Quarter Series on The impact of unsung heroes in the Bible.  The main texts are Joshua 2:1-24; 6:22-25, James 2:25, and Mathew 1:5-6.  The key learning points are as follows:

  1. God can use anyone to achieve His purposes, no matter their past sin. Joshua 2:1, Heb 11:31
  2. The Bible does not excuse sin or sanitize history.  He uses us despite our failings or, perhaps, because of them.  Joshua 2:4, 9-12
  3. One person’s act of loving obedience can save many and impact generations to follow.  Joshua 2:13, Matt. 1:5-6

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

I attach the Bible Study Outline for Sunday 23 June 2024 on “Obedience: an act of faith.  This is the penultimate study in our current Quarter Series on Strengthening Our Faith.  The main texts are 1 John 2:3-6, Hebrews 11:8-10, and James 1:22-25.  The key learning points are:

1.    Our knowledge of, and love for God is proven and made complete by our obedience to Him. We are called to a life of obedience (1 John 2:4-6)

2.    Abraham showed that obedience to God is by faith and an act (action) of faith. He went, not knowing his destination but trusting God who told him to go. Heb 11:8

3.    Obedience is the “doing” of the word that we hear.  Hearing without doing is self-deception. James 1:22-25.

Good evening Brothers and Sisters,

Please see attached the Bible Study Outline on the topic “Enduring Faith” which is the next in our Quarterly Series  on Strengthening Our Faith.  The main text is James 5:7-12 and the key learning points are as follows:

1.    The Christian life is a race – a marathon that takes endurance to overcome trials, stay the course and finish well.

2.     We inherit God’s promises through faith and patience.  Hope, drawn from the certain expectation of the Lord’s return, gives us strength to remain patient and endure through the wait.

3.     Our attitude while we wait matters – a grudging, grumbling attitude can cost us dearly.  Rather we should keep in mind as examples those, like Job and the prophets, who endured and saw that the Lord is very compassionate and merciful.

Yours in His love and mine

Good evening Brothers and Sisters,

Attached is the Bible Study Outline: “Strength through trials and persecution” which is the next in our Quarter’s series “Strengthening our faith.  The main texts are James 1:2-4 and ! Peer 3:8 -22 and the key learning points are:

  1. Trials and persecutions are part of the cross that Christians are called to bear. We should not only be prepared to live for Christ, but we should also be ready to go through trials and persecutions for our faith in HIM.
  2. We should count trials and persecutions ‘’pure joy’’ because, through them, God is strengthening our faith and causing us to grow and to bear the fruit of the Spirit.
  3. God is faithful. He will not allow us to suffer unnecessarily. If we suffer with Christ, we will also be glorified together with Christ.

1.     When God saved us by grace through faith, He provided  us with everything we need to live a godly life

2.     Our faith needs to grow if we must be fruitful and productive in our walk and work with God.

3.     Growing in faith requires diligence and hard work. It will not just happen.

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Please see attached the Bible Study outline on the topic “Living a Transformed Life” which is the next one in the Quarter series on “The Foundation of the Christian Faith”. The main text is Romans 12:1-21 and the key learning points are as follows:

1.     Having received salvation, Christians are called to be transformed by the renewing of their mind and thereby progressively know the will of God (Romans 12:2).

2.     Our minds are renewed as we immerse ourselves in the Word through study, meditation, and prayer under the guidance of the Holy Spirit who is our teacher, sanctifier, and guide to Christlikeness (Psalm 119:15; John 14:26).

3.      Transformation and mind renewal require us to develop the daily discipline of dwelling on things above and to approach life through the eyes of faith.  (Colossians 3:1-2; Philippians 4:8-9).

Good evening all,

Please find attached the Bible study outline for the topic “Grace, Faith, and Works, the next in this quarter’s series on The Foundation of the Christian Faith.  The main text is Ephesians 2:1-10 and the key learning points are:

1.     The sin of Adam and Eve made every man a sinner thereby bringing death and eternal damnation; but God’s grace through the death of His Son brought salvation to all that believe and receive.

2.     Faith in God’s begotten Son is the only way man can access this salvation – which is freely given and is not to be boasted about.

3.     Our “good works” are not a pre-requisite for obtaining this salvation; however, as the redeemed of the Lord, we’re to bring forth fruits (works) that prove that there’s a change of heart from our old ways – fruits consistent with our new life in Christ.

Brethren,

I trust you are well and rejoicing in Jesus as you navigate life in a fast changing world.

Our Quarter series on The Power of God at work in us continues this Sunday with a look at The Power of Faith in Salvation.

Key Takeaways include:
1. Faith in Jesus Christ expressed through believing with the heart and confessing with the mouth that Jesus is Lord and that God raised Him from death is all that is needed for salvation.

  • a. Faith is not something we do. Rather it is a response to what God has already done on man’s behalf through Jesus Christ.
  • b. The heart and the mouth are involved.
  • c. This faith for salvation is available to whosoever (v.13) it does not matter one’s religious background or past.

2. Preaching the message about Jesus Christ is critical in the journey to faith in Christ.

  • a. The message we preach should be about Jesus Christ
  • b. The message is especially in words. People need to hear the message about Christ.
  • c. God reveals Christ to people as they hear the message about Christ
  • d. Believers must be willing to preach the gospel

3. Believing and confessing is usually preceded by hearing, understanding, and accepting what has been heard and understood. (Romans 10:14, 16-21). The posture of one’s heart can hinder or stimulate faith

See attached outline for your further reference.

See you in Church on Sunday.

Brethren,

I trust this meets you well.

Our quarter series on God’s Power at Work in us continues this Sunday with a look at Justification by faith. This subject of justification is so crucial for every believer to grasp. To be justified is to be forever declared innocent by God. That despite all that we have done, still do and will yet do, God’s declaration of our innocence stands. Find out how and why.

The key lessons from this study outline are as follows:

  1. The provision for our Justification was made by The Cross of Jesus Christ.
  2. It is only by Faith in The Gospel of Christ Jesus that we can access this provision of Justification.
  3. Now we have been Justified, we are saved from God’s Wrath/punishment reserved for His enemies. That is why we now have peace with God.
See attached outline for your further reference.

Happy Mother’s Day to all our mothers and grandmothers.

Brethren,

I trust that you are well and rejoicing in all that the Lord is doing in and for you.

Our quarter theme on: God’s Power at work in us continues this Sunday with a look at Abraham and the matter of Righteousness by faith.

Do you struggle with whether God approves of you or not; about what He thinks of you? Then you must not miss this study. See attached outline for your further reference.

The key lessons include:

  1. God’s desire for us His children is that we believe in Him and trust in Him completely.
  2.  Righteousness does not come by works, but by unwavering faith in God.
  3. We can be sure that we will never be out to shame because God is faithful to do just what He said He will do.

See you on Sunday. And we fully trust God to account righteousness to us and not trusting on our efforts.
