Dear Brothers and Sisters,

The attached is the latest in our Quarter Series on “The Impact of Unsung Heroes in the Bible.  The topic is Nicodemus and Joseph: Standing For Christ and our main texts are John 3:1-21, 7:45-52, and 19:38-42.  The key learning points are as follows:

1.      The Importance of Faith and Belief: Nicodemus’ journey from a secret follower to a bold defender of Jesus highlights the transformative power of faith. His conversations with Jesus, especially about being born again, emphasize the need for personal belief and spiritual rebirth.

2.      Uncommon Courage to Stand for Christ: Both Nicodemus and Joseph of Arimathea showed great courage in standing up for Jesus, even when it was risky. Their actions teach us the importance of standing up for our faith, even in the face of opposition.

3.      Acting with Compassion and Care: Nicodemus and Joseph of Arimathea’s act of giving Jesus a proper burial demonstrates compassion and care. Despite the potential consequences, he ensured that Jesus received a dignified burial. This teaches us the importance of showing compassion and care for others, even when it requires personal sacrifice.

3.      Our circumstances should be no barrier to our witness – we should care enough to be able to speak up in every season.  2 Ti4:2,5

Jonathan: A Covenant Brother https://victoriafellowshipchurch.org/jonathan-a-covenant-brother/ https://victoriafellowshipchurch.org/jonathan-a-covenant-brother/#respond Sun, 26 Jan 2025 05:00:00 +0000 https://victoriafellowshipchurch.org/?p=2650 Theme: The Impact of Unsung Heroes in the Bible

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

I have attached the Bible Study Outline on “Jonathan: A Covenant Brother”.  This is the next in our Quarter Series on “The Impact of Unsung Heroes in the Bible”.  The main texts are 1 Samuel 18:1-4, 23:15-18; 2 Samuel 1:26, and John 15:13.  The key learning points are as follows:

  1. The friendship of David and Jonathan is one of the deepest recorded in the Bible.  The real strength of the friendship that sustained it through many tests was their shared faith and trust in God.  Being established in God’s covenant love frees us to demonstrate the same kind of true, selfless, and loyal friendship. 1 Samuel 23:16-18a
  2. True and loyal friendships bear enduring fruit from generation to generation. Jonathan was loyal to his friend even in great danger and as a true friend gave up his rights for the sake of his friend and for the glory of God. 1 Samuel 20:32-34
  3. Jesus is the greatest Friend. He willingly gave up His throne to establish a covenant friendship with every believer. So, all believers in Christ have become a covenant community, bound together by Christ’s shed blood on the cross. John 15:13-14

  1. God can use anyone to achieve His purposes, no matter their past sin. Joshua 2:1, Heb 11:31
  2. The Bible does not excuse sin or sanitize history.  He uses us despite our failings or, perhaps, because of them.  Joshua 2:4, 9-12
  3. One person’s act of loving obedience can save many and impact generations to follow.  Joshua 2:13, Matt. 1:5-6

Hello Brothers and Sisters,

I attach the Bible Study Outline for this coming Sunday, 12 January 2025.  This is the next in our Quarter Series on the theme “The impact of unsung heroes in the Bible.  Our topic this week is “Jochebed: Instilling godly values”.  Our main texts are Exodus 2:1-10, 6:20; Micah 6:4; Hebrews 11:23.  The key learning points are:

  1. Jochebed’s faith in God inspired her to take extraordinarily bold steps to save her child leading, eventually, to the deliverance of the entire nation of Israel. (Exodus 2:2 -3)
  2. Jochebed showed great courage in defying Pharaoh’s edict and wisdom in trusting that God would make a way to save her son (Hebrews 11:23)
  3. Jochebed’s influence on Moses is evident in the choice he made to reject the advantages of royal status and identify with God’s people at great personal cost.  This is an example of the power of godly parenting (Exodus 2:11; Hebrews 11:24).

Enoch – A Man Who Walked With God https://victoriafellowshipchurch.org/enoch-a-man-who-walked-with-god/ https://victoriafellowshipchurch.org/enoch-a-man-who-walked-with-god/#respond Sun, 05 Jan 2025 05:00:00 +0000 https://victoriafellowshipchurch.org/?p=2596 Theme: The Impact of Unsung Heroes in the Bible

Hello Brethren,

Happy New Year!

Please find our first study for the New Year and the first of our new Quarter Series: The Impact of Unsung Heroes in the Bible.  The study is on the topic Enoch: A Man Who Walked With God.  Our main texts are Genesis 5:18-24 and Hebrews 11:5-6.  The key learning points are as follows:

  1. Enoch was a man who walked with God so closely that God was pleased with him and took him to heaven without him first dying. Genesis 5:24
  2. Enoch teaches us that a strong faith walk is not conditional on a supportive environment.  Genesis 5:19, 6:5
  3. Enoch was a man of faith whose legacy is his testimony that “he pleased God.”  Hebrews 11:5

May the Word of God dwell richly in all of us this year.

Intentional Service and Sacrifice https://victoriafellowshipchurch.org/intentional-service-and-sacrifice/ https://victoriafellowshipchurch.org/intentional-service-and-sacrifice/#respond Sun, 29 Dec 2024 05:00:00 +0000 https://victoriafellowshipchurch.org/?p=2580 Theme: “Living A Life Of Sacrifice And Service”

Good evening Brothers and Sisters,

Please find attached the Bible Study Outline on the topic “Intentional Service and Sacrifice” which is our final study in our Quarter Series on Living a Life of Sacrifice and Service.  The main text is James 2:14 -26 and the key learning points are as follows:

1. It is not enough for someone to “say” they have faith. True, living faith must be demonstrated by our actions  James 2:14

2. We are saved by grace alone through faith alone but saving faith is not “alone”. James 2:17, Eph 2:8-10.

3. Abraham teaches us that if we believe in God, we will do what He tells us.  From Rahab we learn that, if we believe in God, we will help His people even if it costs us something.  The vast difference between Abraham and Rahab underlines that anyone can have and demonstrate true faith in God. James 2:21-25.

Wishing all of you and your families a blessed, peaceful and very merry Christmas!

Yours in His love, and mine

Take Up Your Cross https://victoriafellowshipchurch.org/take-up-your-cross/ https://victoriafellowshipchurch.org/take-up-your-cross/#respond Sun, 22 Dec 2024 05:00:00 +0000 https://victoriafellowshipchurch.org/?p=2565 Theme: “Living A Life Of Sacrifice And Service”

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

I pray that you and your families are enjoying a peaceful Christmas season!

Please find attached the Bible Study Outline for Sunday, December 22 2024, on the topic “Take Up Your Cross”.  The main texts are Luke 9:21-26 and Philippians 2:12.  This is the next in our Quarter Series on Living a Life of Sacrifice and Service.  The key learning points are as follows:

1.      The Cross is at the center of the Christian faith.  Denying ourselves and taking up the cross daily is the only credible evidence that we are followers of Christ.  Luke 9:23
2.      We cannot enter into the life Christ has for us unless we embrace the cross.  We must lose our life to save it.  If we try to hold on to it, we can only lose even if we become rich beyond our wildest dreams.  Luke 9:24-25
3.      Salvation is a gift of God without cost to us. Once redeemed, we must work out our OWN salvation by taking up our cross daily and letting the life of God flow through us.  Phil 2:12-13
