Theme: Servant Leadership
Brethren,
Trust you are well.
You may recall that the main objective of our quarter theme is that we would learn about God’s perspective on leadership and how to become godly leaders, so that we may become one.
This Sunday, we see an example of someone who modeled servant leadership. Nehemiah shows us that it is humanly possible to be a servant leader. See attached outline for your further reference.
Key Learning Points include:
- Nehemiah demonstrated faith in God – his leadership being fueled by prayer and compassion for the people and concern for the glory of God. He was able to inspire people to pursue God’s will, which is the secret of true godly leadership.
- Often, what people need to change their situation is the vision to see a better future and the motivation to take steps towards that envisioned better future. Nehemiah brought all that to the people.
- Nehemiah exemplifies a leadership that serves the people, as he used his position to better the lot of his people and advance the cause of God. In addition, he was willing to leave his cozy life in the service of the king to travel to the ruined city of his ancestors to effect repairs.
May God’s grace abound to us to put to action our faith in Him for the good of those around us and for His glory.
