Theme:Servant Leadership
Brethren,
How are you doing today? I trust this email finds you well.
One of the issues around leadership is the role of women in leadership, especially wives and mothers. And our topic this Sunday, highlights one such individual who not only wore the cap of wife and mother, but also that of prophet and judge (leader). Deborah stands tall as an example for all to see the significant roles women can play in leadership, especially when such a woman is also a spiritual woman.
The key lessons include:
- In Deborah, God highlights the fact that women, and even mothers can be effective leaders. Being a wife, prophet, and mother, combines three key characters of a godly leader – submission, hearing from God and compassion.
- Godly leadership is critical, but where there is godly female leadership, righteousness flourishes in every aspect of society. This includes godly leadership in our homes, in the church, in our workplaces, in the community, and in our country.
- As the body of Christ, we are called to demonstrate godly leadership in all areas of life, even as we look forward to the ultimate reign of the One true King and Servant Leader of all, King Jesus.4:6–7 Deborah takes the initiative, sending for and commanding Barak. Deborah calls Barak to lead the army (a woman normally would not be a military leader in Israel).
