3. The world honors the rich, the intelligent, the beautiful, the powerful, and the influential.  The way to esteem in the kingdom of God is through sacrificial love and selfless, faithful service. Philippians 2:29

Please see attached the Bible Study Outline on the topic “Epaphras – Interceding in Prayer.”  This is the next in our Quarter Series entitled “The Impact of Unsung Heroes in the Bible.”  The main texts are Colossians 1:1- 8, 4:12-13.  The key learning points are as follows:

1. Epaphras, a minister (servant), faithfully practiced fervent intercessory prayer for the Colossian church to such an extent that he became noted for it in Scripture. Colossians 1:7,12-13
2. Intercession is highly commended in Scripture; it is essential for spiritual growth.  Colossians 4:12-13; Ephesians 4:11-16)
3. In addition to Epaphras, there are many examples that should encourage us to be intercessors. The pattern for Intercessory prayer was set for us by Christ Himself and we cannot do it without Him (John 15:5; 17:8-26).

The next study in our Quarter Series on The Impact of Unsung Heroes in the Bible is attached.  The topic is “Apollos, an Evangelist” and the main text is Acts 18:24-28.  The key learning points are:

1. Evangelism requires knowledge and passion: Apollos was well instructed in the way of the Lord, yet not in totality. He was much more effective when his knowledge gaps were filled. Acts 18:28
2. Spiritual growth requires humility.  Apollos was skilled, eloquent, and fervent in spirit, but he was only released fully into his ministry when he took correction. Acts 18:26-27
3. Everyone has a gift that can be used to build the church.  We need to keep our focus on the Giver to be released into our gifting and to avoid it becoming an obstacle. 1Cor 3:5-7

Please find attached the Bible Study Outline for Sunday, March 9 on the topic Priscilla and Aquilla: A Godly Marriage for Ministry.  This is the next in our Quarter Series on the Impact of Unsung Heroes in the Bible.  The main texts are Acts 18:1-4, 24-26; Romans 16:3-4, and 1 Corinthians 16:19.  The key learning points are as follows:

1.       God can use anyone for the work of ministry regardless of their age, marital status, tribe, background, profession, socioeconomic status, etc. We are all ministers in the marketplace. Acts 18:3-4 
2.       There are many ways we can contribute to the work of ministry given our different skills, gifting, unique qualities. Some teach, some host Bible studies and fellowships, some assist pastors, preachers and evangelists, some serve, some clean, some sing, some sponsor missions and activities, etc. Each one plays an important role in advancing the Kingdom of God. Romans 16:1-15
3.       The work of ministry can be painful, inconvenient and risky at times. Nevertheless, God wants us to be an active part of establishing His Kingdom here on earth as it is in heaven and will reward us according to our deeds. Romans 16:3-4.

Please find attached the Bible Study Outline for Sunday, March 2, as we continue our Quarter Series on the Impact of Unsung Heroes in the Bible.  This week’s topic is “Barnabas: A selfless Disciple.  The main texts are Acts 4:32-37, 9:26-30, 11:19-30 and 13:1-5.  The key learning points are as follows:

1.      The early church was marked by a culture of unity, generosity, holy fear and joy recognizing God’s ownership of everything including their own lives.  However, the holiness of God was not to be abused.  Acts 4:32, Acts 5:4-5.
2.      Sometimes, it takes courage to reach out “the right hand of fellowship,” but doing so unlocks the flow of the power of God to accomplish His work Acts 9:26-27
3.      God is sovereign, His purpose will not be frustrated by persecution Acts 4:21, Acts 19:2, Acts 12:24

The attached is the latest in our Quarter Series on “The Impact of Unsung Heroes in the Bible.  The topic is Nicodemus and Joseph: Standing For Christ and our main texts are John 3:1-21, 7:45-52, and 19:38-42.  The key learning points are as follows:

1.      The Importance of Faith and Belief: Nicodemus’ journey from a secret follower to a bold defender of Jesus highlights the transformative power of faith. His conversations with Jesus, especially about being born again, emphasize the need for personal belief and spiritual rebirth.

2.      Uncommon Courage to Stand for Christ: Both Nicodemus and Joseph of Arimathea showed great courage in standing up for Jesus, even when it was risky. Their actions teach us the importance of standing up for our faith, even in the face of opposition.

3.      Acting with Compassion and Care: Nicodemus and Joseph of Arimathea’s act of giving Jesus a proper burial demonstrates compassion and care. Despite the potential consequences, he ensured that Jesus received a dignified burial. This teaches us the importance of showing compassion and care for others, even when it requires personal sacrifice.

1.      The Lord can use even the most lowly who is prepared and willing to serve and He can bless even the least likely to show forth His power and mercy to embrace the unsaved. 2 Ki5:1-3
2.      God resists the proud and gives grace to the humble (obedient).  Pride and pre-conceived ideas about how God should do things can cost us dearly. 2 Kings 5:11-13
3.      Our circumstances should be no barrier to our witness – we should care enough to be able to speak up in every season.  2 Ti4:2,5

3. God calls His ministers to stand forth and show themselves. Obadiah was better able to face the prospects of possible affliction or persecution from his master and his wife by keeping his eyes on God and working with humility and Godly wisdom. 1 Kings 18:15 -16
