Theme: Lessons From The Life of David
Brethren,
I trust this meets you well?
This Sunday, we conclude our series on the life of this amazing man, David. We have been looking at his life to try to figure out why God declared him to be a man after His heart. David indeed is an extraordinary man. But just before we start thinking that he was too good to be true, there is the matter of Bathsheba. And that is where we conclude the series as we look at David to learn a thing or two about ‘Sin and Repentance.’
Key Learning points include:
- All sin is primarily against God and is first conceived in the heart. And we are all vulnerable to sin. Therefore, we must guard our hearts with all diligence to avoid being swept away by the deceitfulness of sin and of our thoughts and desires.
- King David did his best to conceal his sin. But all attempts failed, including having Uriah killed. We must remember that even if we can conceal our sin from others, God sees and knows our every thought and action. We cannot hide or run from God.
- Rather than trying to conceal or deny our sin, God wants us to repent by acknowledging and confessing our sins. God readily accepts genuine repentance. “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9).

May God give us hearts that are steadfast in following after Him.
