Children’s Sunday School

Vision

To raise young godly Christians who love God with all their hearts, all their souls and all their strength; and who love their neighbours as themselves.

Mission

To fully equip our children for every good work by using scripture to teach, rebuke, correct and train in righteousness.

The above was drafted based on 4 scriptures.

  • Proverbs 22;6
  • Isaiah 54:13
  • Deuteronomy 6:6-9
  • Isaiah 60:22

The Purposes of our Sunday school

To ensure the furtherance of Christian doctrine:

And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers (Acts 2:42).

To make disciples of Jesus:

As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: Rooted and built up in him, and established in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving (Colossians 2:6-7).

To obey the Lord’s commission to His church:

Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always , even unto the end of the world. Amen Matthew 28:19-20).

To ensure a future generation of Christian workers:

And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also (2 Timothy 2:2).

Children's Christmas Concert

Sunday School Classes

We hold sessions during the second half of the Sunday 9am Service.  Children remain in church for the first half of the Service.  We accept children from birth to the age of 18.  Children attend classes in accordance with their peers. We encourage the children to bring their bibles to class.

In addition we encourage other forms of interaction with various special activities including special songs and dramas in church,  a quarterly combined service, Christmas party, occasional outings and fund raising events.

GUIDELINES FOR TEACHING:

  • Start with an opening prayer
  • Take roll call, using class register.
  • Read Bible passage, preferably give the children the opportunity to do this.
  • Talk about bible passage and the key takeaways / learnings, how does it affect our day to day lives?
  • Do the activity in the Splash / Extreme / the Grid manuals
  • End with a closing prayer by one of the children preferably.
  • Share the snacks/ supervise the sharing of the snacks involve the kids in this activity

Children get promoted to the next class when they reach the appropriate age in September every year.

Discipline must be age appropriate, we do not send children out without supervision.

No December classes after the Christmas play / party

All teachers expected to help in December our busiest period.

We involve parents if there are any concerns about a child under your care, but discretely.

If unhappy or you have any suggestions please let Sis Ruby and Sis Olabisi know directly. If still not satisfied, contact the Sunday school representative in the pastoral affairs committee, presently Sis Yemisi Ayeni.
